My Past

Head Tilt, October 1972.

Perhaps I was going for sullen, perhaps I wanted to convey ennui (having learned the meaning of the term as a teen, but having dropped out of an acting class before we got around to it), and perhaps I was concerned that I might be late for work the day this photo was taken.

Regardless, I may have tilted my head a wee bit too much.  I could’ve sworn this photo was one taken for my Brooklyn College undergraduate yearbook (I graduated in January 1973, so I would put this photo at somewhere around October 1972), though upon close inspection, I can’t imagine any yearbook photographer putting his subjects (or predicates) so close to a background as the one in this photo, or even using a striped background like the one in this photo.  Unless the photographer took a look at me and thought, “Suitable background?  Howzabout old wallpaper found in similarly old Brooklyn apartment bathrooms?  Yeah, that’ll do it!”

Just my luck
